I think what Robert Redford is trying to communicate through The Natural is Robert Redford is trying to engage the reader, for example he explains every detail. Like on page 53 of the natural when the author is explaining Fishers flop, he goes into great detail about the story. I thought he did a good job of engaging the reader. This also includes hooking the reader because I can honestly say that I couldn’t put the book down while I was reading the chapter, Robert Redford is very talented to be able to do this. Robert Redford does a great job of foreshadowing too, because when Sam is reading the paper about a women going around killing sports athletes you really want to know who it is, you think that it is Harriet Bird but you’re not really sure because it doesn’t say it in words until the end of the chapter. Robert is trying to communicate these examples because it’s better to keep the reader engaged and hooked to the book it’s good to keep the reader engaged into the book so that the reader doesn’t get lost and puts the book down. Redford puts these in the book because the fit into the story well. http://unrealitymag.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/robert-redford-the-natural-photograph-c10103386.jpg
